When it comes to defining a word in the English language there are several sources you can go to.  One of those sources is the Webster’s New World Dictionary.  Another source you might turn to is the internet.  There are several sites which have been created for this specific purpose.  Some individuals might turn to a friend or relative when they need help defining a word.  This year at Cumberland we are turning our attention to the scriptures for help when it comes to defining the word “love.”  The definition of the word love can best be seen in the image of our Savior laying down his lift for us upon the cross.  We hear in the scriptures that there is no greater love than that one man would lay down his life for another.  The apostle John tells us that God is love in his letter to the early church.

This year we are going to focus our attention on defining the word “love” because we see it as the greatest need within our homes, church, community, country, and world.  Imagine what the world would be like if everyone would learn to love one another as Christ has loved us.  Could you picture what our community would look like if we were to devote our time and resources to loving others?  We may not be able to change the world, but we can impact the lives of those who live around us.  We invite you to join us as we look to define the word “love.”
